I recall the Bolter ...
I recall the Bolter. A fantastical weapon that used a large and complex cartridge to fire a rocket propelled "bolt" that detonated after penetrating its target in a contained explosion. Putting propellent behind this weapon could solve its muzzle velocity issues, however such an explosive force could damage it prematurely

Unless, of course, ...
Unless, of course, it makes rounds that are hilariously unreliable, have no accuracy beyond a few yards, and require insanely exacting production procedures - which the Gyrojet company wasn't really up to the task for. And let's be honest, few things say more about a gun *than the bullet being absolutely unique*. Nobody in the world would have been using it. Anyone who knew anything about guns would have instantly pointed fingers at the CIA.
It has clear ...
It has clear advantages, but a pistol that doesn't work upclose is junk. It would however be a perfect sniper rifle. As you said, it is silent, has little muzzle flash and doesn't eject a case, making it very hard for a sniper to be found. As a pistol it simply doesn't work, but maybe the thing was just too far ahead of it's time, and it could work using modern materials.
LOL
LOL
the creep is ...
the creep is obviously a government agent. Everyone that knew anything about guns back then collectively shit their pants. Look at the up side. Practically silent, long range, no rifle markings, no spent shell for breech and firing pin and extraction marks, and,,, well,,, the perfect elimination device for an assassin. The launcher can be made out of throw away pieces because there is no pressure that needs containing. I can think of applications for a dozen of these pieces of junk.
There is a type of ...
There is a type of gun being developed where the bullets are kept in the barrel and fired off electronically. Something similar could be adapted to the Gyrojet to replace the faulty mechanical hammer system. They could also use a quicker burning form of propellant or even use variations of propellant for different types of rounds.
They did actually ...
They did actually make a Carbine and a Sniper Rifle variation. But, like the guy said. It was a piece of wood and plastic junk.

Why does the top comment have no thumbs up?
This is a really ...
This is a really good idea. With a bit of work i think it could have been made better. How bout loading one of these rounds into a conventional say 45 cal round or smaller. That way it has an initial velocity. Then from there it would be able to continue to increase velocity. That would be very interesting.
OK, that answers ...
OK, that answers the question, why they didn't make gyro rocket snipers!

Rounds had a tendency to spin off target at longer distances.
The hammer design ...
The hammer design is retarded, as is the decision to make it a pistol (close range) It would work very well as a Squad automatic weapon if the ignition system were improved. Maybe make the rounds 15MM and incendiary/explosive, Now your talking!
